EULA

We know that fonts and their license agreements (EULAs) can be confusing and often bring up questions. We’ve covered the most common ones here, but if you don’t find your answer or if anything is unclear, please get in touch! We’re happy to help clarify things for you. And in case you haven’t read it yet, you can find our EULA at https://www.dograytype.com/eula.

1. How many computers can I install the fonts on?

Our license is based on the number of users within your organisation, not the number of computers. You may install the fonts on any number of machines, provided everyone using the fonts is covered by your license.

2. Can I use your fonts on my website?

Our Basic License allows you to use our fonts on your website regardless of number of visitors or views. You can not embed Dogray fonts on websites or tools that generate dynamic artwork, or documents, and where the fonts can be exported for use outside the context of the website.
If this is something you require, please contact us directly.

3. Can I embed the fonts in a PDF, PowerPoint, or other document?

Yes, under these conditions:

  • The document is for personal or internal business use on computers you or your organisation controls.
  • If you send the document to others (e.g., a client for review or a printer), it must be securely distributed in a format that only allows printing and viewing, and prohibits editing, extracting, or modifying the text.

4. I’m designing a logo for a client. Which license do I need?

If you are creating the logo for a client, you need to upgrade to an Extended License. We also kindly ask that you give us a heads up if you do use any of our fonts for such projects.

5. Can I use the trial fonts for a client pitch?

Yes. The Trial License permits you to use the fonts for creating private pitches and proposals for your clients. However, if the client approves the project, the final work must be created with a properly licensed commercial font. This trial license only covers the pitch itself; it does not permit using the font for any other internal or production work within your organization, or any public-facing or final commercial work.

6. When do I need an Extended License?

You must upgrade to an Extended License for any use beyond desktop and web fonts.

This includes:

  • Embedding in mobile or desktop applications (apps).
  • Embedding in Ebooks or digital publications.
  • Use in broadcast (TV, film, online video and streaming). This includes titles and credits, captions and subtitles, and props.
  • Creating logos and wordmarks.
  • Use in videogames.

7. Can I modify the fonts?

You are permitted to make limited technical modifications for your own use:

  • Subsetting to reduce file size by removing unused glyphs.
  • Converting the font to other formats (however, note that you may not use .ttf files on the web).
  • Reducing the axes of a variable font.
  • You may not add new glyphs to the existing set or alter the design of existing ones.

Note that any modified font remains subject to the EULA, must retain our copyright notices, and can only be shared with other users covered by your license. No technical support is available for modified fonts.

8. Can I modify the format of the fonts?

No. If the formats provided by us do not satisfy the requirements of your project, please contact us.

9. What am I NOT allowed to do with the fonts?

You may not:

  • Create violent or hateful content. This includes using the fonts for any material that promotes, incites, or glorifies hatred, violence, discrimination, or intolerance against any individuals or groups based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or other protected characteristics.
  • Share or distribute the font files with any unlicensed third party.
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or modify the font’s design.
  • Use the fonts to create a derivative font or mimic their design.
  • Use the fonts in a political or religious context without our prior written consent.
  • Use the fonts for anything not expressly permitted in the EULA, such as training AI models or tools.
  • Store the fonts in a publicly accessible location (like a public GitHub repository).

10. Do I own the fonts after I purchase them?

No. You are purchasing a license to use the font software under the terms of our EULA. Dogray retains all ownership, copyright, and intellectual property rights to the fonts. No title is transferred to you.

11. Who owns the license, me or my client?

The ownership of the license depends on who is using the final product:

  • The Client must own the license if the fonts are used in their branding, website, or products.
  • The Designer/Agency must own a license if using the fonts for their own self-promotion or internal projects.

12. What is your refund policy?

We will refund your purchase only if you report a technical problem with the font software within 30 days of purchase and we are unable to resolve that specific problem within 10 business days. Refunds are not provided for change of mind or accidental purchase. If a refund is issued, your license is immediately terminated.

13. What happens if I break the terms of the license?

Any violation of the EULA will result in the automatic termination of your license. Dogray reserves the right to seek damages and compensation for the breach. Furthermore, we reserve the right to deny or revoke a license from any entity we determine promotes hatred, violence, discrimination, or activities contrary to human dignity.

14. What happens if my organisation grows after my purchase?

The license you purchase is perpetual, meaning it remains valid forever for the user count and uses you originally paid for. We do not charge recurring fees or require you to pay for more users if your organization expands.

15. What happens if my needs change after my purchase? For example, I now need app fonts as well

If you need to use the fonts in a new way that requires an Extended License (e.g., for an app), you will need to purchase the Extended License upgrade to cover the new uses. Please contact us to receive your unique upgrade code. Your original license remains valid for the scope it was purchased under.

16. Are you looking for collaborators?

Not at the moment, but we are forever looking to grow our community. If you would like to be considered for future projects, please send us a portfolio of your work. We'll happily keep it on file and reach out if the right project comes along!
